Quarter turn latches
The Quarter-turn latches always consist of a 1/4 twist lock, retaining washer and lock bottom part. All components, namely the locking bolt, retaining washer and bottom part are captive components which are inseparable joined to the frame. A quarter-turn latch was designed to securely hold and close hatches, container lids or machine panelling. Quarter-turn locks are closed or opened by turning it through 90°. This moves the cross pin in the locking bolt through a curve in the bottom part of the lock, thus tensioning the spring. At the end of the curve there is a little recess in which the cross pin engages to secure the connection. The pretensioning force of the spring ensures that the connection is held securely despite any vibrations.
Quarter-turn locks are available in four different styles. The styles determine how the quarter-turn lock is operated. By slit or cross slit, or without the use of tools by knurled or star grip. |

Compression latches
Compression latches are mainly use with doors and housings, which have increased sealing requirements. For that reason, a higher thrust pressure is needed.
Compression latches typically consist of a rotating bolt that is inserted into a bracket. When closing the quarter-turn lock, the bolt is turned to reach a locking position. This locks the movable element securely. The rotary movement generates compression force. This compression force presses the element firmly into place and create a seal against dust, dirt, moisture or other environmental influences.
The range includes three different options of compression latches.
- The standard compression latch
- The compression latch with variable retraction travel
- The compression latch with adjustable tongue height
We have made a video of the application of compression latches with variable retraction travel available on YouTube.
